After signing up, there are four basic steps to using the NTS service.

1) Make sure you schedule your rides as soon as you know you need them.
To schedule a ride, call 319-363-1321.  Rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.  Because there is no office
staff available over the weekend, all schedules for Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday morning must be received
before 10:00 A.M. Friday, Saturday morning schedules can be left on the voice mail up until 8:00 A.M. Friday. 
Voice mail is available both during and after business hours.  Be sure to leave your name, pick-up time, pick-up location, and drop-off location as well as a phone number where you can be reached should there be a change in your pick up time. Please remember all first time riders must sign up at the NTS office prior to scheduling their first ride.  Please call in your schedule as soon as possible.  The earlier you get your schedule turned in, the more likely you are to get your requested pick up time.
If you are being picked up from work, please schedule the pick-up for when you will be off work and ready to go.  Please allow us 10 minutes after that scheduled time to arrive. If you are going to work, please schedule your pick-up time at least 1 hour prior to the beginning of your shift. We are a shared ride service and may have to pick up other riders along the way.  By allowing a little extra time, we can be sure to get you and all our other customers to work on time.

2)Make sure you cancel your rides as soon as you know you don’t need them.
To cancel a ride, call 981-1138 at least one hour prior to your scheduled time. We check our voice mail frequently, so
please leave a message.  If you are not at the scheduled location at the scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged
$5.00 for a “No-Show”.  After two No-Shows, all your rides will be cancelled.  Before you can re-schedule any rides, you will need to come to our office and pay for the No-Shows, you can then re-schedule your rides.  When you re-schedule the rides, all the rules of scheduling apply.  For example, rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

3)Make sure you have a ticket, a check, or a money order to pay for your ride.
For the safety of our passengers and drivers, we do not accept cash on the bus.  All riders must have a NTS ticket
before boarding the bus or you can pay for a single ride with a check or money order.  A 5-ride punch pass may be
purchased from the driver with a check or money order. (There is a $15.00 charge for each returned check)   Please
remember tickets are non-refundable.

4)Be ready when the bus arrives.
Please be ready 10 minutes prior to your pick up time. If we have cancellations, we could be running a few minutes
ahead of schedule. Our goal is to be on time for every pick-up.  However, due to traffic conditions, trains, or adverse
weather we sometimes get behind schedule. 
Neighborhood Transportation Service is a shared ride transportation service that provides rides to and from work, training, school, and life skills classes. 
NTS provides rides during hours that the fixed route city buses are not running.
Before scheduling a first ride, riders MUST sign up for service and purchase their initial tickets at the NTS office located at:
